Enrolment and deregistration for the Bachelor's programme

Initial enrolment for the Bachelor's programme
Selection of new first-year students takes place via decentralized selection. You must register for participation via Studielink. More information about the decentralized selection process and deadlines can be found here. Once you have been admitted to the Medicine programme in Rotterdam, follow the enrolment steps as described below.

(Re-)enrolment for the Bachelor's programme
Admitted and current students must re-enrol themselves each year via Studielink for the upcoming academic year, starting in September at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). This can be done from mid-June until no later than August 31. Are you too late? Then you are no longer (potentially) a student at EUR and your student account will be blocked. Retroactive enrolment is not possible unless circumstances beyond your control apply. The Executive Board makes this decision; see the procedural rules regarding enrolment at EUR.

Monitor your enrolment via Studielink
In the ‘My to-do list’ on Studielink, you can see the status of your enrolment and the necessary steps to receive your proof of enrolment (uploading a passport photo, admission, payment of tuition fees, etc.). See the STiP item Proof of enrolment for instructions on how to retrieve this from Osiris Student.

OSIRIS enrolment traffic light system
In OSIRIS, you can also check your enrolment status. Go to the Personalia tab, and next to ‘Programme’ you’ll find the option: Enrolment status for programme. This section shows any pending actions. Under ‘Progress indicator(s)’ you will see traffic lights that indicate pending tasks and overall status. Your enrolment is only complete once all action points have been fulfilled.

Foreign prior education
The Admissions Office of EUR assesses all foreign diplomas. Refer to the information provided by the Admissions Office. Students with a foreign prior education must also register via Studielink. Note that the evaluation of your prior education by the Admissions Office is separate from the decentralized selection. If you are selected through decentralized selection, you must demonstrably meet all entry requirements by 15 July.

(Re-)enrolment after study interruption
All students who wish to resume the bachelor's programme after a study break must submit a re-enrolment request as a higher-year student in Studielink. On the homepage (first page), under the 'My programmes' tab, click 'Add new enrolment'. You will then arrive at the request for enrolment page. When asked, ‘Enrolling for the 1st year?’, select ‘No’ (permission required). The following message will then appear (see screenshot).

After checking the intake moment, select: ‘Confirm intake moment’. Education & Student Affairs will weekly check which students meet the conditions for re-enrolment. Once approved, your enrolment will proceed. Keep an eye on the ‘My to-do list’ on Studielink for the next steps.

You can never enrol twice in the same academic year for the bachelor's programme, even if you take a break for a few months. You may only re-enrol as of 1 September. Enrolment for the new academic year opens in Studielink from mid-July until 31 August.

February stop and restarting
Information about this can be found in the knowledge item: Binding study advice and February stop.

Discontinuation of studies and/or mid-year deregistration
Your study enrolment automatically ends on 31 August. If you wish to deregister during the academic year, you must indicate the termination date via Studielink (always as of the 1st of a month). Only deregister if you are no longer participating in education. Results obtained while not enrolled are invalid.

Study interruption longer than 6 months
If your study interruption lasted longer than 6 months, you must submit an enrolment request to the programme's directorate. If the interruption was arranged in consultation with the academic advisor, they will inform you of the steps to take. Exception: if you were unenrolled for more than 6 months before starting your clinical rotations, this rule does not apply.

Obtaining your bachelor's degree and deregistration
Once you have obtained 180 ECTS for the bachelor's core programme (status ‘achieved = yes’ in your study progress report), you may deregister from the bachelor's programme. In the first week of the following month, you will receive an email from Education & Student Affairs about your graduation and diploma. More information can be found in the item: Bachelor’s diploma and graduation ceremony. Information on enrolment for the master’s programme is available in the item: Enrolment and deregistration for the master's programme.

Entitlement to student finance
Your entitlement to student finance ends as soon as you are deregistered. More information about tuition fees and deregistration via Studielink can be found here. If you deregister, make sure to do so in both Studielink and DUO.

Erna account and EMC pass
Once you are deregistered, your Erasmus MC pass will be deactivated, and you will lose access to your ERNA account and student email. All saved information in your student email will then be deleted. More information on accessing your ERNA account after deregistration can be found in the knowledge item ERNA account and via ASK Erasmus (search term: ERNA).
