Progression bachelor

Check your SPO
To progress to the next academic year, it is important that you carefully check your Study Progress Overview (SPO). For more information, see the STiP item Reading your study progress overview

Missing result
Is a result missing from your SPO that you believe should be included? If so, contact the relevant course team as soon as possible. You can find their contact details in Canvas via this overview.

Exam results
Different rules apply to exams. Exam results will only appear in your SPO once they have been finalized. You can read more about this in the item Exams and registration

Progression requirements
To continue studying in the next academic year and to participate in certain components such as the minor and CV education, progression requirements apply as described in the Education and Examination Regulations (OER).

Progression decision in August
Each year, from the second week of August, the Education & Student Affairs and the Examination Board (EC) determine who may progress to the next year after all (resit) exam results have been registered. The SPO data in OSIRIS Student is leading in this decision. See also the knowledge item Study progress overview

Progression to bachelor year 2
To be admitted to the second year, you must meet the requirements of the Binding Study Advice (BSA). See the OER and the knowledge item Binding study advice and February regulations and Compensation rules bachelor + calculator tool

If you are allowed to progress to the second year, you will receive your new study group number(s) via OSIRIS Student in mid-August. See also the knowledge item on Study group numbers (bachelor and master).

Progression to bachelor year 3 and minor
Specific admission requirements also apply for taking a minor and the third-year bachelor courses. These are also stated in the OER. A study group number for the third year will be assigned at the end of September.

No progression (recidivate)
If you are not allowed to progress to the next year and there is no negative Binding Study Advice (BSA), you will retain, unless otherwise stated in the OER, the credits for the components you have successfully completed. This also applies to required learning objectives (VOs) within the themes. An exception is made for the longitudinal education, which has specific requirements outlined in the OER and appendices. If you wish to attend one or more VOs again, despite having passed them, you may join the classes. If you wish to repeat CV education, you must first contact the relevant department.

Study group number for repeaters and students with backlogs
If you are repeating a study phase or still have unfinished components from a previous academic year, you will be assigned to a new study group at the end of August (ba1 and ba2) or early October (ba3).

Compensation visible in OSIRIS Student
Progression decisions cannot be made until all final (resit) exam results have been entered into OSIRIS and any compensation has been processed by Education & Student Affairs  (when studying nominally and under the conditions stated in the EER; see also the knowledge item Compensation rules bachelor + calculator tool). Compensation becomes visible in OSIRIS Student from mid-August.

Study Progress Overview is leading
To determine progression, the OSC uses the data from the Study Progress Overview (SVO) in OSIRIS Student. This overview shows all exam components per academic year based on the OER. To prevent unnecessary delays at the end of the year, it is very important that you regularly check your SPO. Are components missing or do things look incorrect? Report this immediately to your teacher or Education & Student Affairs . See also the knowledge items Study Progress Overview and Reading your study progress overview
