Allocation
For attending courses, all bachelor students are assigned a (new) study group number every August based on the progression rules from the OER. See also the knowledge items: Mandatory education and attendance, Binding Study Advice and February strike. With the assignment of the study group number, access to the digital learning environment (Canvas) is also arranged. See also the knowledge item: Canvas.
Announcement
In mid‑August, the Education Service Center (OSC) publishes the study group numbers for bachelor years 1 and 2 in OSIRIS, and in mid‑September for bachelor year 3. This is late, but unfortunately cannot happen before all (final) grades from the previous year are announced and after processing the BSA, progression rules, and any compensation arrangements.
The OSC can assign a study group number only once the study registration at EUR for the upcoming academic year is complete. See also the knowledge item: Enrolment and withdrawal bachelor Medicine, -master or -premaster.
Study group number for retakers and ‘repeaters’
Students who are not allowed to progress or still need to catch up on certain (mandatory) components will automatically receive a study group number for the outstanding components. However, this may take a bit longer because ‘regular’ study groups are assigned first. You will receive a message about this at your student email no later than four weeks before the start of education.
No study group number
Are you only doing resits and do not need to attend mandatory courses? Then you will not receive a study group number. If you still want to attend certain courses, you must contact the teacher or the education office. When you register for the resit, you will automatically be enrolled on the correct Canvas pages, so you can access the study materials.
Retaking mandatory courses
Have you completed the mandatory courses and do you want to retake certain sessions? Then contact the teacher or the education office. In this case, you will not receive a study group number. If you have already passed the mandatory line teaching and wish to retake it, you must always contact the education office of the line teaching. You can see which courses you have passed in your study progress overview.
Registering yourself for resits
Do you want to take an exam for the second time or did you miss the first opportunity? Then you must register yourself. For the procedure, read the knowledge item: Exams and registration.
Communication
The OSC publishes the study group numbers in OSIRIS and communicates with all students via their student email regarding assignment and progression. Wait to contact about your group number until you receive a message about it in mid‑August. You can rest assured that everyone will receive a message about progression.
Study group number in OSIRIS
You can find your study group number in OSIRIS by clicking on the “Enrol” tab and then “Show my enrolments”. In the overview of your enrolments you will find a course named “Studiegroep Ba…”. If you click on this, your study group number will be visible. Make sure you are looking at the correct academic year.
Study group allocation
When allocating study groups for Ba2 and Ba3, the OSC considers, among other things:
Study progress overview
In August the OSC processes all results, compensation arrangements, and late grades. Check your study progress overview in OSIRIS regularly for your current study results. If you notice missing results that you obtained earlier in the academic year, report this promptly to the responsible lecturer and/or the OSC. See also the knowledge items: Progression and study progress and Study progress overview.
If certain results are wrongly incorrect on your study progress overview after mid‑August, there is still time to have this corrected.
Swapping
Swapping study group is not possible. For some mandatory sessions, you may swap with another student. For this, see the knowledge item: Mandatory education and attendance.
