Geriatric medicine clinical rotation

Students starting their internal medicine clerkship from March 3, 2024 (i.e., everyone from intake 3 of academic year 2023-2024) will complete a three-week geriatric medicine clerkship at the end of their fixed clerkship rotation.

How was space created for this?
To make the geriatric medicine clerkship possible, the master's research project has been shortened by two weeks (from 20 to 18 weeks), and the self-study period has been reduced to one week instead of two. The duration of the other clerkships and the preparatory education at the EMC remains unchanged.
The option to extend the regular master’s research project by 3 or 6 weeks (i.e., to 21 or 24 weeks) by linking one or two elective periods remains available.

For students who started or completed the master’s research project before the start of the clerkship rotation that includes the geriatric medicine clerkship (i.e., those who started the research project in or before August 2023), a compensation scheme has been established, which is outlined in the OER
