The Education Center


Visitors 
The education center (OWC) is the heart of the Faculty of Medicine at Erasmus MC. It offers space for education and self-study for over 6,000 students from the Medicine, Clinical Technology, Nanobiology, Research Masters, PhD, Erasmus MC Academy, Skills lab and Simulation, General Practice and medical specialist programs. 

Self-study 
The education square offers more than 400 study spaces. Students can study here and use various ICT facilities. The education square is surrounded by 40 colloquium and lecture rooms. Education & Student Affairs, responsible for the OWC, prioritizes creating an optimal study environment for students. 

Accessibility 
The OWC is accessible only to students of Erasmus University, Research Masters, Clinical Technology, Nanobiology and Erasmus MC Academy. Wearing your Erasmus MC pass visibly is required when studying in the OWC. 

Pleasant study environment 
The education center is a shared space where a good learning environment for all students can only be achieved by showing respect for each other and following the rules. 

Identification requirement 
It is mandatory to visibly wear your Erasmus MC pass. You may be asked to show your identification. 

Clean and tidy 
Together, keep the learning environment clean and dispose of your waste in the designated bins. 

Self-study spaces 
A study space may not be left unattended for more than 15 minutes. Items left unattended for longer will be removed.  

Break area 
Talking, calling, eating or drinking? Please do this in the area around the espresso bar, the reading table and the Chesterfields. 

Furniture 
It is not allowed to put your feet on the sofas or to move the furniture. 

Silence 
Respect the learning environment of others: adjust the use and volume of your voice, your devices and your general behavior accordingly. 

Enforcement 
Always follow the applicable rules in the education center. Staff members of Education & Student Affairs will monitor compliance. 

Video and photo recordings 
Official recordings must be reported to the communications department (press@erasmusmc.nl). During recordings in the OWC, students or visitors may not be visibly filmed or photographed without consent. No activities may take place on the second floor near the study islands. On the third and fourth floors, please respect studying students. Do not block walkways or stairs. Sessions may not last longer than one hour to avoid prolonged disturbance.

The Education Centre is closed during the Christmas holidays. 

Outside opening hours, security will ask unauthorized visitors to leave.
