Learning environment profiles
Each nursing department provides care and treatment within one or more medical specialties. Each specialty has its own characteristics that influence the type of care provided. The purpose of the learning environment profile is to inform you, as a nursing student, about the real learning opportunities on the internship-providing department. You will use the learning environment profile to explore the internship options and to create your POP/PAP or Start Document.

The department’s current status is outlined in terms of learning climate, learning content, and nursing skills. Based on this:

 

• The department is responsible for the quality of the learning environment
• The Nursing Internship Office assigns you to a department that enables you to meet your education requirements
• Your theory teacher uses the profile to guide the curriculum and prepare you for the internship

 

Some departments apply the workplace learning concept (indicated in the profiles below), where students learn and develop together with registered nurses. Twice a week, there are scheduled teaching sessions. The institutional teacher is present weekly on the department.
