Erasmus MC Graduate School offers PhD education and training that focusses on improving theoretical knowledge of a specific topic or on improving certain skills needed as an independent scientist. 

Four tracks
All PhD education and training that Erasmus MC Graduate School offers, is divided into four Tracks: 

  • Core, with general education applicable for all PhD candidates 
  • Biomedical Sciences 
  • Clinical Sciences 
  • Health Sciences 

Irrespective of PhD track, Erasmus MC PhD candidates are welcome to follow any PhD training of interest.

Required courses

We advise to take this course in the 2nd year of the PhD project. If you are also pursuing a Master in Health Sciences (70EC) you are advised to join the Graduate School Scientific Integrity for PhD candidates (PHDCO-001) instead of the Master in Health Sciences Scientific Integrity course (LLS06). If so, you must request an exemption from the Master in Health Sciences Scientific Integrity course (LLS06), through the (Research) Master Examination Board. You can find more information about this on the General Information Page on Canvas. Scientific Integrity for PhD candidates (PHDCO-001) is a required course for PhD candidates. It is not possible to request an exception for this course by following the Master in Health Sciences Scientific Integrity course (LLS06).

All researchers involved in research covered by the Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act (WMO) must be BROK® certified before starting the study, by successfully completing the eBROK course and exam.

Erasmus MC Graduate School covers the full costs of a Required License for:

  • Erasmus MC PhD candidates
  • Research Master students
  • Research Master students re-registration (only one re-registration is covered)

To request a Required License code that will give you access to the eBROK course, please fill out this form to receive your license code (valid for one year) and additional information. Once submitted, we will send you an email within 3 business days.

Please note that the Graduate School only covers the costs when the registration is completed via the form provided above. Cost claims for course registration made independently will not be reimbursed.
