Compulsory education and attendance

Mandatory Education

You attend skills education (VO) according to your schedule and with your assigned study group. See also the knowledge items: Education and Examination Timetable and Study Group Number bachelor or -master.

You are not allowed to attend classes at a different time than the one you are scheduled for. The theme books, syllabi, and the Education and Examination Regulations (OER) contain information about mandatory course components.

Attendance Registration

For mandatory lessons, identification with your EUR student card is required. You are personally responsible for ensuring that your attendance is correctly registered. This is done via Academy Attendance.

For more information, see the knowledge item: EPASS, Scorion, and Academy Attendance.

Additional Information Master's in Medicine Attendance Registration

The program, in consultation with the Examination Board, has decided to apply the following principle: Not registered = not present. The teacher’s registration is leading.

If you are marked absent and you inform the teacher that you were present, the burden of proof lies with you, and it is up to the teacher to assess the situation. The teacher makes the final decision about whether to mark you as present. If you have questions about your attendance status, contact the teacher, not Education & Student Support (O&S). The teacher can adjust the registration in Academy Attendance up to five working days after the class. During that time, the data is not yet processed in Osiris.

If changes need to be made after this period, the teacher will inform the (O&S), which will then update Osiris. If you are dissatisfied with this process, we ask that you first discuss the matter with the teacher. If no resolution is reached, you may escalate the issue to the Examination Board.

Unable to Attend or Want to Switch Classes

If you cannot attend (mandatory) education, you do not need to inform O&S.

The rules for missed mandatory classes are determined by the responsible teacher and/or department. Direct any questions about these rules to them. In some VO sessions, it is allowed to switch with a fellow student so you can attend at another time. However, for line education, switching is never allowed due to your fixed teacher/group assignments.

Refer to the syllabi, theme books, and the OER for more information.

Procedures for Switching or Making Up Classes

For mandatory VO sessions in theme education, the contact persons and procedures for switching or making up classes are listed in OSIRIS. Go to the ‘Education’ tab and enter the course code under Course Code/Name. In the ‘Course Information’ tab, you will find the rules on absence, switching, and rescheduling. Can’t find the course info? Check the knowledge item: OSIRIS to learn how to look up a course code.

If you have switched according to the rules mentioned, it will not affect your attendance registration in Academy Attendance.

Overview of Remaining Mandatory Education

In your study progress overview (SVO), under ‘Results – Other’, you can see which mandatory education components have been marked as Completed (VD) and which are still Incomplete (NVD). If the ‘Results – Other’ section is not visible in your SVO, make sure to check ‘Print Remaining Education’ in OSIRIS before opening your SVO. More information on viewing and interpreting your SVO can be found in the knowledge item: Study Progress Overview.

No Result or Incorrect NVD

If two weeks after a VO session your SVO still shows no result or an incorrect NVD (Not Completed), contact the relevant teacher.

The teacher is responsible for registering/reporting your attendance. Teacher contact information can be found here.

Erasmus Code of Conduct

The Erasmus Code applies to all participants in the Medicine program. You can find the guidelines here.

Non-Mandatory Education

The rules for non-mandatory education are outlined in the theme books on Canvas.

Use the Canvas overview to select the relevant education component, which will take you directly to the correct Canvas environment. If your attendance or result for non-mandatory education is missing or incorrectly marked as NVD, and you believe it should be registered, contact the responsible teacher. They are in charge of reporting your attendance.
