Registering with a bachelor's or pre-master's in Medicine
To complete your registration for the Master's in Medicine, you need a completed Bachelor's in Medicine or pre-master's in Medicine in Rotterdam, as well as an official admission decision for the master’s program. The full admission requirements are listed in the Education and Examination Regulations (OER) for the Master’s in Medicine.
First-time registration for the master’s
You must register by August 31 at the latest. An exception applies if you start your clinical rotations in entry moment 1, in which case you may register as of September 1.
There are multiple entry points into the Master’s in Medicine each academic year. You register via Studielink for the month in which you begin your clinical rotations or the Methods of Research module. See the section 'Registering via Studielink' below.
(Re)registering for the master’s
Students starting the master’s in September or continuing after August 31 must re-register each year via Studielink. This is possible from mid-July until August 31. If you do not plan to continue to the next academic year, you must also indicate this via Studielink. If you're too late, you are no longer (potentially) a student at Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), and your ERNA student account will be deactivated. You may not participate in courses or clinical rotations, and any results achieved while not registered are invalid.
Starting after September 1
If you do not start in September and/or have a waiting period before your clinical rotations, you do not need to register by August 31. You can register mid-year as of the first day of the month in which education starts (e.g. November 1 or April 1). This mid-year registration option opens on October 1. See the section 'Waiting time for clinical rotations' for more information.
Monitor your registration in Studielink
In the ‘My to do list’ on Studielink, you can track your registration status and the required steps to receive your proof of enrollment (uploading a photo, admission confirmation, tuition payment, etc.). You can also read how to download your proof of enrollment via Osiris Student in the STiP item “Proof of Enrollment”.
Registration traffic light in OSIRIS
You can also see your registration status in OSIRIS. In the Personalia tab, next to 'Program', you’ll find the option: Registration status. Here you can see pending tasks. The status lights (traffic lights) show which actions are still required. Only once all actions are completed is your registration finalized.
Waiting time for clinical rotations
During a waiting period, you may deregister via Studielink without informing Education & Student Affairs separately. During deregistration, you are not considered a student by DUO or EUR. You will also lose access to educational systems such as your student email and SIN-Online.
If you deregister and re-register within two months, you will retain your ERNA account including email history. If you're deregistered for more than two months, your email history will no longer be available. To avoid this, you can already register for the date you plan to restart.
Note: Have you already completed another master’s program? Then it's often better not to interrupt your registration — otherwise, you might have to pay the institutional fee of over €30,000. When in doubt, always contact the ESSC before deciding to interrupt your registration.
Are you 30 or older, still entitled to student finance, and planning to use it? Then do not deregister and do not stop your student finance via DUO — otherwise, you may lose your rights. Click here for more info.
Registering via Studielink
Submit a registration request for Medicine, WO Master, Erasmus University Rotterdam. First, choose the correct start date.
More info about the waiting period can be found in the knowledge item: Clinical rotations and practical matters.
Correspondence during waiting periods
When you are not enrolled, Education & Student Affairs will send important correspondence about the master’s to your Studielink email address. Check that the email listed in Studielink is correct.
Pausing studies and/or mid-year deregistration
Your enrollment for an academic year ends automatically on August 31. If you wish to deregister mid-year, indicate in Studielink the effective month (always the first of the month). Only deregister if you are no longer following any education. Results obtained while not registered are invalid.
More information about deregistration can be found in the STiP item “Master’s degree and graduation”.
Deregistering from the master’s
If you deregister, do so actively via both Studielink and DUO. Are you deregistering because you are graduating? See the STiP item “Master’s degree and graduation” for more information.
Entitlement to student finance
Your entitlement to student finance ends as soon as you are deregistered. More information about deregistration after graduation can be found in the knowledge item “Master’s degree and graduation.” More information about tuition fees and deregistration via Studielink can be found here.
ERNA account and EMC card
Once deregistered, your Erasmus MC card will be deactivated, and you will lose access to your ERNA account and student email. More information about returning your Erasmus MC card can be found in the item “Erasmus MC card.” All stored student email data will be deleted. More info about your ERNA account and access after deregistration can be found on ASK Erasmus (search term: ERNA).
